BLOOM PRIVACY & COOKIE POLICY
PRIVACY POLICY
Last updated: August 2026
At Bloom, your privacy matters. This Privacy Policy explains what personal information I collect, why I collect it, how I use and protect it, and the rights you have over your information. Bloom is a UK-based marketing business providing services including website design, SEO, branding, copywriting, print design and ongoing marketing support.
For the purposes of UK data protection law, Bloom is the data controller for the personal information described in this policy.
Who is responsible for your information?
Bloom is operated by Imogen Lawson.
If you have any questions about this Privacy Policy or how your personal information is handled, you can contact me at:
Email: imogen@bloomcontent.co.uk
Website: bloomcontent.co.uk
What information do I collect?
Depending on how you interact with Bloom, I may collect:
Your name
Business or company name
Email address
Telephone number
Information you provide through the website contact form
Information you provide when requesting a quote or discussing a project
Emails and other correspondence between you and Bloom
Information needed to provide services, manage projects and issue invoices
Payment and transaction information required for business and accounting records
I only collect personal information that is reasonably necessary to respond to enquiries, work with clients and run Bloom.
How do I collect your information?
Most of the personal information I hold is provided directly by you when you:
Complete the contact form on this website
Contact Bloom by email or another communication method
Request a quote or discuss a potential project
Become a client
Provide information while we're working together
How do I use your information?
I may use your personal information to:
Respond to enquiries
Discuss potential projects and provide quotes
Provide the marketing services you've asked me to deliver
Communicate with you before, during and after a project
Process payments and issue invoices
Maintain appropriate business and financial records
Meet legal, tax and accounting obligations
Protect Bloom from fraud, misuse or legal claims
I do not sell your personal information.
Bloom does not currently use information submitted through the website to send newsletters or marketing emails, and submitting an enquiry will not automatically add you to a marketing mailing list.
What is my lawful basis for using your information?
UK data protection law requires me to have a lawful reason for processing personal information. The basis I rely on depends on why I am using the information.
For Bloom, these will generally be:
Contract – where I need to use your information to take steps at your request before entering into an agreement, such as discussing a project or preparing a quote, or to provide services we've agreed upon.
Legal obligation – where I need to use or retain information to comply with legal, tax or accounting requirements.
Legitimate interests – where using your information is reasonably necessary to operate and protect Bloom, manage client relationships or deal with enquiries, provided those interests do not override your rights and interests.
Who do I share your information with?
I don't sell or trade your personal information.
I may use trusted third-party service providers where necessary to operate Bloom or provide services to you. These may include providers used for:
Website hosting and contact forms
Business email
File storage and document sharing
Accounting, invoicing or payment processing
Printing and fulfilment
Other professional or technical services required to complete a client project
Only the information reasonably necessary for the relevant service will be shared.
I may also disclose personal information where required by law or where reasonably necessary to establish, exercise or defend legal rights.
The ICO requires privacy notices to explain who personal information may be shared with; this can be done by identifying the recipients or relevant categories of recipients.
International transfers
Some third-party technology providers used to operate Bloom may process or store information outside the UK.
Where this involves an international transfer of personal information, I will rely on an appropriate mechanism or safeguard where required under UK data protection law.
How long do I keep your information?
I only keep personal information for as long as it is reasonably needed for the purpose it was collected, or where I need to retain it to meet legal, tax or accounting requirements.
As a general guide:
Enquiries that don't become clients will normally be kept for up to 12 months after our last contact.
Client correspondence and project information may be kept for up to six years after our working relationship or project ends, where there is a legitimate business or legal reason to retain it.
Invoices, payment records and other information required for tax and accounting purposes will be kept for the period required by UK law.
When information is no longer required, it will be securely deleted or anonymised where appropriate.
The ICO requires organisations either to state how long personal information will be kept or explain the criteria used to determine the period. If you're self-employed, HMRC currently requires relevant business records to be kept for at least five years after the 31 January submission deadline for the relevant tax year, which is why I've kept the tax-record wording tied to the legal requirement rather than giving it an arbitrary six-year period.
Cookies
Bloom does not use third-party advertising or marketing tracking tools. However, this website is hosted by Squarespace, which may use analytics and performance cookies to provide information about how visitors interact with the website. These non-essential cookies are restricted unless you choose to accept them through the website's cookie consent controls.
How do I keep your information secure?
I take reasonable steps to keep personal information secure and protect it against loss, misuse, unauthorised access, alteration or disclosure.
Where third-party services are used to process or store information, I take reasonable steps to use reputable providers and appropriate security measures.
However, no method of electronic storage or transmission can be guaranteed to be completely secure.
Your data protection rights
Depending on the circumstances and the lawful basis on which your information is being processed, you may have the right to:
Ask for a copy of the personal information I hold about you
Ask me to correct inaccurate or incomplete information
Ask for your personal information to be deleted in certain circumstances
Ask me to restrict how your information is used in certain circumstances
Object to certain uses of your personal information
Request the transfer of certain personal information where applicable
Not every right applies in every situation. The rights available to you can depend on the reason your information is being processed.
If you would like to exercise any of these rights, please contact:
imogen@bloomcontent.co.uk
Your right to object
Where I process your personal information on the basis of legitimate interests, you have the right to object to that processing in certain circumstances.
Please contact imogen@bloomcontent.co.uk if you wish to raise an objection.
Making a complaint
If you have any concerns about how Bloom handles your personal information, please contact me first and I'll do my best to resolve the issue.
You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), the UK's data protection regulator. The ICO says UK privacy notices should inform people of this right.
